The Ukrainian American Community of Buffalo and Western New York mourns the loss of it's member Billy Drozdowsky, who died on December 18, 2009 of complications due to leukemia. Born May 4, 1948 in Korbach, Germany, son of the late John and Anna (Myziuk) Drozdowskyj from Ukraine who had been displaced by the war from their native Ukraine and had come to America with their children to restart their lives. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1966 after high school, where he found his true calling in medicine while serving as a Medic. After tours of duty in Korea and Norway, he received an Honorable Discharge and entered nursing. Seeking a larger challenge, he graduated as a Nurse Anaesthetist a few years later and entered a profession that was his perfect match and his most natural vocation. His wonderful sense of humor and lively manner charmed the most stubborn of patients. His passion for his craft made him the perfect choice for difficult cases and in 30 years of practice he became a familiar figure in most of Buffalo's major hospitals. He is survived by his wife Anne and children, Nicholas and Julia. Billy is deeply missed by his family and his many close friends and associates. Нехай з Богом спочиває. Вічная йому память! |
